dotMD 2022

#dotMD22 will take place in Galway on June 17th and 18th 2022

Conference Speakers and Panelists

dotMD 2022 will feature an address from Anne Enright – the Booker Prize winning writer and Ireland’s first Laureate for Fiction.

Guests will include Dr Suzanne Koven - Massachusetts General Hospital's first writer in residence and author of Letter to a Young Female Physician, creator of The Medical Storytelling podcast - The Nocturnists, Dr Emily Silverman, Professor Roger Kneebone – (author of Expert: Understanding The Path to Mastery) and Dr John Launer - GP, educator, and author of How Not to Be a Doctor.

The meeting will see psychiatrist and writer Dr Iain McGilchrist (The Master and his Emissary) in conversation with Dr Ash Ranpura neurologist and neuroscientist, and will also feature psychiatrist, comedian and author Dr Benji Waterhouse whose book You Don’t Have To Be Mad To Work Here will be published in 2023.

Following on from author Colum McCann’s suggestion at dotMD 2019 that doctors should begin to think like poets, we are delighted to introduce Martin Dyar - Irish Poet and editor of forthcoming anthology Vital Signs: Poems about Illness and Healing.

We will also hear from Emma Jane Unsworth, award winning author of Animals and Humans who will be there to talk about her raw, and sometimes hilarious call-to-arms memoir about post natal depression and new motherhood, After The Storm.

The hugely popular Medical Storytelling session ‘Bedside Stories’ will return with stories told by Dr Sumi Dunne, Dr Rita Doyle, Dr. John Quin and Dr Chris Luke.
